The Council of Elders

Local people are ever more numerous in wanting to give some of their free time and their experience to the service their fellow citizens.

During the last election campaign, the municipal team pledged to establish a "council of Elders”, ("Conseil des Sages" in French) — a body of ideas and proposals intended to inform the council concerning various projects in the town of Noirmoutier en l'Ile.

The council is composed of twenty five members appointed by the Municipal Council from among the retired folk of the town. The term of office is six years, the same as municipal electoral terms.

The council's role is to advise on structuring projects with light shed on all issues related to age.

How can we put an end to the isolation of the elderly? What changes for sustainable tourism can be made in our town? What solutions to facilitate traffic, parking and safety of cyclists n l'Herbaudière? These are all issues that have been entrusted to them.
