Holiday tax

To accommodate the many visitors, tourist areas should have better access facilities than those that would be required to meet the needs of the permanent population. The holiday tax ("taxe de séjour") was introduced in order to ensure that all visitors participate in the financing and maintenance of these facilities.

The tax has been introduced for hotels and hotel residences and in furnished B & Bs and other accommodation with similar characteristics.

Who pays this tax?

Persons staying in paid accommodation who are not domiciled in the town and do not have a residence for which they would be subject to any taxe d'habitation.

How is the tax calculated?

Rates must be posted in each establishment. They are set by each municipality, in reference to a national scale, depending on the category of the establishment. To the rate set by the town, another 10 % levied on behalf of the Département. The town is responsible for paying this part to the General Council.
